BRIDGEPORT — For most of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers’ season, through the ups and downs, coach Brent Thompson hasn’t faulted his team’s effort.
He was less thrilled Tuesday night after a 5-0 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Webster Bank Arena.
“Too many outnumber rushes,” Thompson said. “Not enough effort as far as tracking,” coming back to defend the Phantoms’ rushes. “We were sloppy with the puck. Playoff hockey, it’s a joke.”
Bridgeport fell six points behind fourth-place Charlotte with 26 games remaining.
The Phantoms scored on a three-on-two 1:10 into the game, and though Bridgeport pressured, two goals two minutes apart in the second period all but put away the Sound Tigers’ fourth loss in a row.
