BRIDGEPORT — Much like the first meeting this season between Fairfield Prep and Ridgefield, the highly anticipated rematch featuring the state’s No. 1 and No. 2 ranked boys hockey teams was a one-sided affair.
The Jesuits scored three times in the first period and cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday at Wonderland of Ice.
“We did not start well. Prep started very well,” Ridgefield coach Shaun Gallagher said. “To come out of the first period down by three is not where you want to be. But you’ve got to give Prep credit. They won all the battles, and they outskated us.”
For the second-ranked Tigers, it was all too reminiscent of their season opener nearly two months ago, a 6-1 loss to Prep at Winter Garden Ice Arena.
