BRIDGEPORT — Hockey, especially minor-league hockey, can become a nomadic life, going from city to city or sometimes country to country for the next gig, getting called up or sent down.
You don’t have to tell new Bridgeport Sound Tigers defenseman Andre Benoit. Since he won the first of his two Calder Cups with Hamilton in 2007, his second professional season, he began every new season in a different organization than the last.
“It’s been like that my whole career. We’ve moved every year,” Benoit said. “It’s what we’re used to.”
He moved again this week, driving from Cleveland to Bridgeport when the Columbus Blue Jackets loaned him to the Sound Tigers, leaving his wife and two daughters for the moment.
