FAIRFIELD — Fairfield University junior infielder Courtney Hankins earned the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Year as well as a spot on the All-MAAC first team when the conference announced its annual awards show on Wednesday night. Mikayla Rubin and Destinee Pallotto collected berths to the All-MAAC second team while Lauryn Rhinehart, Drew Westford, and Rubin secured slots on the MAAC All-Rookie team.
Hankins, who was named the MAAC Player of the Week on April 24, leads the team in hitting with a .402 batting average as well as with her 51 hits, seven home runs, and 29 RBI. She has also drawn 31 walks in her 49 starts, an average of 0.63 walks per game which places 50th in the nation.
