CROMWELL – There hasn’t been much time to rest in the three days since Brooks Koepka won a second successive U.S. Open on Sunday.
Heavy media obligations, and a little post-championship celebrating in the Hamptons, sapped much of his energy in the prelude to this week’s Travelers Championship – a commitment he kept despite an historic achievement not seen in a generation.
So it wasn’t surprising that in the moments after shooting a 68 in the opening round on Thursday at the TPC River Highlands, Koepka said he was looking forward to a nap.
Of course Koepka, whose chiseled physique more closely resembles a pro football player, said the nap was necessary only to rest up before a trip to the gym later that afternoon.
